Barden

We caught the ferry across to Senja in the morning, passing two young reindeer on the way. Our notes suggested climbing Barden on route to the next hotel. This entailed negotiating several tunnels on the way to the starting point, Fjordgard. A sunny Saturday in August meant that parking was a little tricky! The walk was wonderful. The steep part was fine going up and it turned out to be not too tricky coming down. The views in all directions, but particularly along the fjords and the headlands between them, were stunning. Photos cannot really do justice to the full panorama seen from the top.

After the descent we headed for our new hotel at Mefjord Brygge.
